Church Buries Cremated Fetuses

AbortThe Sacred Heart of Mary Parish in Boulder, CO has taken the ashes of over 1000 aborted fetuses and buried them in a Catholic burial service. The article may be accessed here.

Catholics and others who oppose abortion (such as myself) see this burial as an act of kindness and respect for aborted lives that would otherwise have been thrown in the trash. Others see the burial as an act of political exploitation, using the burial to simply make a political point, and in the process showing disrespect for women who have had abortions. What do you think?

I think you know what I think. It’s the best thing in the world the Church could’ve done to honor them.

As with many actions, WHAT is done doesn’t matter as much as HOW it is done. I can see the Church performing these burials in a very meaningful, loving and proper way, and in that case it would be, as Charles said, the best thing they could have done. I think we can see, though, how someone could perform an action like this as a political stunt, in which case it would be exploitating and dishonoring the dead and would be morally reprehensible. I pray that the former is the case in this instance, and that the ceremony was performed in charity for the sake of honoring those departed children.

I think that we all agree that there could be horrible things done in the name of political action to end abortion, sanctity, and even the name of God.

This, from what I know, is a beatiful act of piety. Like Charles, you know what I think on this subject.
